Where to see them

Wild azaleas in every shade from yellow to red-orange, and a bloom that climbs the mountain: the low coves color up from late April, and the famous grassy balds — Gregory Bald in late June is a genuine eleven-mile round trip — finish the season. People plan years around the balds; the coves are the easy warm-up.
